Dictators with Power

In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, kids have to survive on an island because their plane has crashed. They need to make their own rules among themselves, since there is no adult supervision. One of their leaders is named Jack. Hitler and Jack are both dictators. They both limit free speech, manipulate others, and use violence to keep power. 

Both Jack and Hitler limit free speech. In the article “The Nazi Book Burnings,” it states, “Yes to decency and mortality in family and state! I consign to the flames the writings of Heinrich Mann, Ernst Glaser, and Erich Kastner.” (4). Nazi’s burned the books so that people would only believe in Nazi ideas. Golding writes,” You’re talking too much”, said Jack Merridew. “Shut up fatty” (1). Jack wants everybody to be quiet, so he can be the only one to talk. Both of these leaders want only their ideas to be heard. 

Both Jack and Hitler manipulate their followers. In the article “Nazi Propaganda,” it states, "The Ministry's aim was to ensure that the Nazi message was successfully communicated through art, music, theater, films, books, radio, Educational materials, and the press.” (3) Hitler used film and theater to make people believe in the Nazi message. Golding writes, "I painted my face I stole up. Now you eat all of you” (1). They had no food and Jack brought them food. He did this, so that he could control them. Hitler used propaganda to control his people. Jack used food to make everyone do what he wanted. 

Both Jack and Hitler use violence to keep their power. In the article, “Holocaust A Call To Conscience,” it states, "Approximately six million Jewish men, women, and children were killed during the holocaust." (2). Hitler killed this many people and caused fear in his citizens. Golding writes, "Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!" (1). Every time they do this dance, they kill somebody. Jack is violent because he wants to be the leader and this is how he keeps his power. Hitler killed many Jews to keep his power and Jack uses violence to become the leader and gain control. 

            Hitler and Jack are both dictators. They both limit free speech, manipulate others, and use violence to keep their power. Jack used violence to gain control and to become the leader. Childhood Memory

Jose Celaya Mrs.Twenge Period 2 & 3 The Best Childhood Memory I look back to the time I spent the day with my cousin George and my friend Jose we were at Oakley Park playing soccer. I was wearing Adidas sweats, Nike cleats, and a sports team jersey. That day there was a big baseball game. I could hear people cheering and screaming, George, Jose, and I were playing a soccer game against each other. I could smell fries and popcorn that were being bought at the snack bar. So my cousin and I were playing a one on one match and suddenly my cousin trips on a big rock and fractures his leg. My friend and I didn’t know what to do to help him there was a lot of people that could have helped us but we didn’t think it was necessary. Since my house isn’t that far from Oakley Park we thought that it would be best to take my cousin George to my house by both my friend and I carrying George. When we got home George sat on the coach but yet couldn’t stand up, we figured out that he needed to go to the hospital. We waited for my dad to get home from work. When my dad finally gets home, my dad and I take my cousin to the hospital. My cousin’s doctor told him he had broken a bone from his foot. The doctor also told him he couldn’t be able to play soccer for 6 months. My cousin got very depressed knowing that he wouldn’t be able to play the finals for his soccer team. If it wouldn’t of have been for that rock and me asking him to go play soccer for a little game he would have been good to play in the finals. I didn’t want him to get bored at his house because of his leg so I would go to his house and would take my Xbox 360 twice a week for 5 months. My cousin would always tell me he was bored because of his leg so that was the least I could do for him to cheer him up. So 5 months passed my cousin and I thought it would be good if I helped him get back up on his feet and play soccer again. So what I did was get my cousin off the bed so he could walk. My cousin and I walked to the same park where he got hurt. My cousin and I started jogging. I had noticed that he didn’t have much strength to run on his his legs. I told my cousin if he wanted to stop running but he said that he wanted to continue running. So we got to the park I had my soccer stuff inside my back like my real madrid jersey, nike cleats, my addidas sweats, and my soccer ball. My cousin was wearing shorts and regular shirt and shoes. So we started jogging around the park and I felt that my cousin George was still struggling I felt like I was making him work too hard. My cousin and I ran 2 miles at a slow pace but when we finshed I got my real madrid jersey, nike cleats, addidas sweats and my soccer ball out I put my regular clothes inside my backpack. My cousin and I started passing the ball to each other. It seemed like it was so hard to kick a ball for my cousin. After a while of passing the ball he started kicking it a little harder. My cousin told me he wanted to try playing a one on one match with me i told him that I would like to play a one on one match with him. The first five minutes in the game my cousin was doing so good at running and kicking the ball. This time he started using both legs to kick and he would only kick with his right leg. I was proud of my cousin I felt like we needed a rest so we sat on the bench. My cousin and I were talking when my cousin tells me that he thanks me for being there to support him these past five months that he will never forget what I did for him. I told him that, that’s what family is for to support and to not give up on each other and that I will never forget that day someone thanked me for helping them on something I wouldn’t expected doing. My cousin passed a month trying to get better and better so that when that month was over he would be the same champ was before again. My cousin is simply the best.

Big Changes in China

Before this unit I knew that China had the most people than other counties in the world. I also knew that China is a big country. I think that China is more popular & bigger now. I would consider on visiting China because I have never gone to China. I also want to go to China because I want to discover new things. I don't think I would try the prezi idea again because I didn't find it very helpful. I liked working on PowerPoint because you get to create slides instead of typing it all in one whole page. I didn't like working on easy bib because I didn't know what I had to do. I don't think I would have done anything differently because I liked my project.

biographical narrative

Jorge is tall and brown. He has black hair. Jorge is 20 years old. He has a good job, nice house, and a great car. Jorge doesn’t mind on helping others. Jorge once told a story about a guy who fell from his motorcycle. 

 He said that the guy was hurt badly. Jorge was coming back from work when he saw this happen. Jorge said that no one was helping the guy. He then got off his car and helped the guy get inside Jorge's car. Jorge didn’t call for an ambulance because he said that they would take too long to get there. He also didn’t want the guy to lose a lot of blood. Jorge took the guy to the hospital and the doctors said the guy was badly injured. Two weeks later the doctors said that the guy could go home. Finally, the guy said "thank you" to Jorge for saving his life.
